Basic Keelboat
(101)
This is a 3 days
certified live aboard course.
Pre-requisites: None
The Basic sailing class is designed to get
the new sailor on the right track. Through a
proven course of classroom and on-the-water
instruction you will learn sailing
terminology, sail handling and trim, knot
tying, safety procedures, sailing a course,
maneuvering, anchoring and securing the boat
and man overboard drill. This course is
recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard as a safe
boating course.
Cost $600.00 (includes all instructional
material, split provisioning and one year
ASA Membership.)

Basic Coastal
Cruising (103)
This is a 3 day
certified live aboard course.
Pre-requisites: Basic Keelboat (101)
This class opens up a new sailing
opportunity. Able to cruise safely in local
and regional waters as both skipper and crew
on an auxiliary sailboat in moderate winds
and sea conditions. Areas of instruction
include rules of the road, weather,
seamanship, gear and equipment and the
duties of skipper and crew. Certification at
this level will allow you to sail an
auxiliary powered sailboat and take friends
or family day sailing.
Cost $750.00 (includes all instructional
material and certification.)

Bareboat
Chartering (104)
This is a 3 day certified live aboard
course.
Pre-requisites: Basic Keelboat (101) and
Basic Coastal Cruising (103)
This is the major goal of many sailors to be
able to bareboat charter or cruise with
confidence, an advanced cruising standard
for individuals with cruising experience.
Areas covered include Cruise Planning,
navigation and boat systems, maintenance
procedures, electrical systems, engine and
marine head, tide tables, weather, sail trim
in all weather conditions and the ability to
pilot the boat into an unfamiliar harbor.
Cost $750.00 (includes all instructional
material and certification.)

Coastal Navigation (105)
This is a 2 day shore based course.
Pre-requisites: None.
This classroom only course covers the theory
to safely navigate a vessel in coastal or
inland waters. It is a stepping stone to
advanced certification where you will be
venturing away from sight of land and out of
protected waters. Learn about radar, Loran,
GPS and other aids to navigation.
Cost $385.00
